Department

History

The Department of Accounting and Auditing was established in 1964 as the Institute of Business Administration. 1976 it was renamed ‘Institute for Auditing, Trust and Accounting’. In 2007, it was renamed once more to ‘Department of Accounting and Auditing’.

First chair of the department was Univ.-Prof. Dr. Karl Lechner, one of the founders of the Social and Economic Sciences at the Karl-Franzens-University Graz. Em.Univ.-Prof. Dr. Gerwald Mandl headed the Department from 1987 to 2009.

Currently Univ.-Prof. Dr. Ralf Ewert is head of the Department of Accounting and Auditing.
